One area that delighted in the course of the work done over the last fifteen years, has been the work with children-aimed at making them responsible future adults and to inculcate in them, awareness and values, especially on civic, artistic, health, governance and environmental questions.
Sethi helped set up the YP Foundation of which she is a Founder Trustee. Started in July 2002 by Ishita Chaudhry and Arshiya Sethi in collaboration with the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, the YP Foundation is a youth run and led organization that supports and enables young people to create programmes and influence policies in the areas of gender, sexuality, health, education, the arts & governance.
The organization promotes, protects and advances young people’s human rights by building leadership, and strengthening youth led initiatives and movements. Founded in 2002, we have worked over the last 8 years directly with 5,000 young people to set up over 200 projects in India, reaching out to 300,000 young people. She has conducted workshops for children in partnership with the World Wide Fund for Nature-India, and private organizations like Camp Roots that "promotes learning from the outdoors".
One of her most important efforts has been in the field of awareness on adolescent issues- especially issues of life skills, drug and HIV prevention. Towards addressing these issues, Arshiya Sethi has conducted workshops with children in schools (from Classes 6th- 12th in private and government schools), with teachers and principals, as well as parents. These have become very popular and various Rotary, Inner Wheel and Interact Clubs as well as schools have called upon her to conduct such sessions. She has worked with over thirty schools already. Such interventions are direct, unabashed, frank and forthright- in sync with the attitudes of adolescents of today.
