Interested in Bird watching, Arshiya is a core member of the NGO Delhibird, which has been monitoring the Delhi region for bird life on behalf of the Bombay Natural History Society.
She has organized familiarization Bird Walks for special groups regularly.
She has personally lead bird walks for children and interestingly for dancers who use the image, metaphor and poetry about birds, as part of the traditional vocabulary of dance.
The highlight of this effort was the programme, “Dance of the Birds” that was premiered as part of the World Dance day celebrations in 2009. Almost half a decade of work with the well-known Bharat Natyam exponent Rama Vaidyanathan and Music composer G.S. Rajan, resulted in a unique programme that combined the classical Indian dance and issues of bird conservation. Organised in collaboration with WWF-India and the Delhibird Group, the dance recital was preceded by a talk by famed Ornithologist Ranjit Lal, in an attempt to marry the audiences for birds and the audiences for dance.
Part of Delhibird's team of resource people, she has actively participated in a bird ringing camps.
She has conducted identification lectures in English and Hindi for audiences as varied as curious fourth graders on the one hand, and for the rangers of Corbett National Park on the other.
