The Seen and the Performing Indian Art

This lecture contrasts the two levels at which the performing arts of India move. The Indian arts have often been compared to the double reed pipe, in which one reed holds to the drone- the hidden essential, while the other allows the creative outbursts of energy. With examples ranging from music, theatre and dance, the talk carries you through this truth in an engaging anecdotal manner.
